๐ด๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ -In a boost to neonatal healthcare, the Montserrado County Health Team has installed a new infant incubator at the Pipeline Health Center, courtesy of the Joseph Boakai Foundation.
A statement posted on Facebook by the Ministry of Health states that the infant incubator will improve the survival chances of premature and critically ill newborns by providing a stable and controlled environment for their growth and development.
“This is meant to strengthen maternal and child health services across Liberia.” The statement said.
Montserrado County Health Officer Expresses Joy
Speaking at the installation ceremony, Montserrado County Health Officer, Dr. Jewel Kollie, lauded President Joseph Boakai and his foundation for the generous contribution.
Dr. Kollie disclosed the critical role neonatal care plays in reducing infant mortality rates. โThis incubator is a game-changer for our health center. It will provide life-saving support for preterm babies and those requiring specialized care,โ the Montserrado County CHO stated.
“The Pipeline Health Center serves a large and growing population, making the availability of modern medical equipment crucial for better healthcare delivery. Previously, many families had to seek neonatal care at distant hospitals, often leading to delays in emergency interventions. The addition of the incubator aligns with broader government initiatives aimed at equipping local health facilities with essential medical technology.” The Ministry of Health Statement noted.
Healthcare Workers and Community Excited
Residents and healthcare workers have welcomed the development, expressing gratitude for the improved medical services. Many believe that such interventions will help reduce the burden on referral hospitals and ensure that mothers and newborns receive timely and quality care.
โWe are happy to see this kind of progress in our community,โ said one resident. โThis will save lives and give hope to many families.โ This installation follows a series of healthcare improvements at the facility.
In December last year, President Boakai dedicated the renovated maternity ward of the Pipeline Health Center, a project spearheaded by the First Lady of the Republic of Liberia, Kartumu Boakai.
The First Lady has been actively involved in strengthening healthcare infrastructure, reaffirming her commitment to addressing the urgent needs of underserved communities.
