Monrovia – Ahead of the highly anticipated “Say No to Drugs” protest slated for August 7, Liberian musician and youth advocate Korte Dorbor Bazzie, popularly known as Kobazzie, has issued a passionate statement urging citizens to prioritize the nation’s future over personal or political interests.

In a strongly worded message released on Tuesday, Kobazzie emphasized that the protest is a non-political, people-powered movement intended to raise awareness about the devastating impact of drug abuse on Liberia’s youth.

He made it clear that the event is not a platform for commercial exploitation or political opportunism.

“This protest on August 7 is not about business, politics, or personal gain. It’s a movement for the survival of our nation,” Kobazzie stated.

The award-winning artist, who has long used his platform to speak on national issues, expressed frustration over individuals attempting to commercialize the event by selling high-priced protest T-shirts under the guise of supporting a “good cause.”

“You don’t need to buy any shirt to be part of this protest. Wear whatever you have. Just show up and walk,” he emphasized. “This is about unity and purpose, not profit or fashion.”

Kobazzie also had stern words for those attempting to politicize the event, warning against hijacking the protest for selfish agendas.

“To those trying to hijack this movement for political gain: Thunder will fire you and your selfish agenda,” he said. “This is not the time for rubbish. The youth of this country deserve better.”

The protest, which has gained traction across social media and among grassroots communities, comes at a time when Liberia is grappling with a surge in drug addiction, especially among young people. Synthetic drugs like “kush” and “italy” have devastated countless lives, prompting national concern and calls for urgent intervention.

Kobazzie’s message is seen as a rallying cry to restore focus and authenticity to a movement that he says must remain grounded in the urgent need to save lives and secure Liberia’s future.
