CAM Blasts Spoon, Prophet Key Over Alleged Attacks on Speaker Koon

NATIONAL NEWS

MONROVIA – The Citizen Action Movement (CAM) has issued a sharp rebuke against media personalities Stanton Witherspoon and Justin Oldpa Yeazhen, popularly known as “Prophet Key,” over what the group calls unsubstantiated and unethical attacks on House Speaker Richard Koon.

CAM described the rhetoric as a serious embarrassment to Liberia’s political discourse and called for greater accountability in media conduct.

In a press release on Thursday, CAM accused Witherspoon and Prophet Key of leading a social media campaign of diatribes against Speaker Koon, using platforms such as the Spoon Network to spread what the group termed false information and negative propaganda.

The movement further alleged that the two men have resorted to direct and indirect blackmail to pressure the Speaker, with Witherspoon accused of pursuing illegal deals with the government and Prophet Key allegedly demanding large sums of money for unspecified favors.

“The unethical use of social media to falsely malign the character of Speaker Koon is a clear abuse of the freedom of speech,” CAM stated, urging the Press Union of Liberia and the public to address what it described as “unprofessional conduct” in the media space.

CAM Secretary General Bedford Dennison characterized Witherspoon and Prophet Key as “pocket advocates” who have traded integrity for self-interest.

“They have traded their credibility for reputational ruin,” he said, emphasizing that the legal histories of both individuals further undermine their criticisms of the Speaker.

According to CAM, Witherspoon, CEO of Spoon Network, was convicted in the U.S. in 2023 for conspiracy to commit wire fraud related to a multi-state scheme involving the sale of over 7,600 fraudulent nursing diplomas—an offense CAM noted “potentially endangered patients across the United States by allowing unqualified individuals to bypass essential training requirements.”

Prophet Key, meanwhile, was disqualified during the 2025 Nimba County Senatorial By-Election after submitting a fraudulent biometric voter registration card.

Founded in 2023, CAM positions itself as a guardian of ethical public service and “clean and green speech.”

The group urged Witherspoon and Prophet Key to address their own “serious legal consequences and ethical backlash” before offering what it described as “unsolicited critiques of high office.”
