Decayed Human Body Found Zogolemai Township

LOFA COUNTY – On April 19, 2025, a decomposed human body was discovered near a farm in John’s Town, Zogolemai Township, Bondi Clan, Voinjama District, Lofa County.

The human Skeleton was discovered by a woman, Mamie L. Coleguwor, who had gone to her farm around 3:00 PM to get rice from her kitchen.

Ms. Coleguwor in an interview with journalists said the skeleton was discovered a red bitter boy (a plant) near a swamp and went to retrieve it.

As she approached, she detected a foul odor resembling rotting meat. When she looked ahead, she saw a human skeleton. Frightened, Mamie ran to her niece, and the two immediately alerted the town chief and the youth leader.

The authorities then informed security personnel at a nearby checkpoint. The officers instructed Mamie to lead them to the scene, where they confirmed the presence of the decayed body.

Police documented the area with photographs before returning to town at evening hours. Mamie was later taken to the police station to provide an official statement. After giving her account, she was released and told to await further investigation.

Upon visiting the site, the county coroner, Mr. Augustus Tarnue, promptly assembled a 15-member jury to examine the body.

However, due to the advanced state of decomposition, the jury could neither identify the individual nor determine any signs of foul play.

Following the examination, security officials handed over the remains to the town chief for burial.

Calls for Increased Security

The Commissioner of Zogolemai Township, Mr. Anthony S. Sumo, has urged the government to deploy additional security forces in response to recurring incidents in the area.

He emphasized that residents are deeply concerned about these unsettling events. Similarly, the Town Chief of John’s Town, Mr. Selemah T. Keleko, confirmed that no missing persons had been reported in his town or nearby villages, as messages were sent to neighboring communities, all of which denied having any missing individuals.

Chief Keleko has also appealed to the government for enhanced security measures to address the frequent disturbances in Zogolemai Township and its surroundings.

Citizens Live in Fear

Citizens are living in fear due to the back-to-back discoveries of lifeless bobies in the region.

Recently, Moyongor Keleko mutilated body was discovered on a farm road in Duwogomai town. Following the discovery of her lifeless body, police arrested 4 citizens of the town as suspects.

The four suspects were detained at the Voinjama City police with holding cell undergoing preliminary investigation. In the process one of the suspects, Yakpawolo Moisema allegedly hang him in the cell.

The recent discovery of the human skeleton in the same area most especially, when the body is yet to be identified, have brought fear among citizens.

This is not the first time for that an unidentified body has been discovered in Voinjama District.
