MONTSERRADO COUNTY – Dr. Thomas Nimely Tweh Jr., popularly known as the “Original Country Man,” has fulfilled a major campaign commitment by providing direct financial support to women in the God Grace Community, a move aimed at strengthening grassroots economic empowerment.
On Tuesday, Dr. Tweh’s office, through his Chief of Staff, presented One Million Liberian Dollars (LD$1,000,000) as a loan facility to organized women’s groups within the community.

The initiative is intended to support women-owned small businesses, expand income-generating activities, and improve household livelihoods.
Beneficiaries are expected to invest the funds in petty trading, small-scale agriculture, and other micro-enterprises that form the backbone of the local economy.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Chief of Staff said the initiative forms part of a broader development agenda that places women at the center of community growth and economic stability.
“This program reflects our commitment to empowering women and strengthening small businesses. When women are supported, families are strengthened and communities thrive,” the Chief of Staff said.
Community leaders and beneficiaries welcomed the assistance, describing it as timely and practical, particularly at a time when many households continue to struggle with rising living costs and limited access to formal credit.
They praised Dr. Tweh for honoring his pledge, noting that the loan scheme demonstrates leadership focused on action, accountability, and tangible results rather than political rhetoric.
In a statement, Dr. Tweh reaffirmed his dedication to people-centered development and disclosed that his office will continue to introduce initiatives aimed at promoting unity, economic growth, and social progress in other communities.
“We remain committed to delivering meaningful support that advances unity, growth, and progress for our people,” the statement said.
The initiative is expected to serve as a model for similar women-focused empowerment programs in surrounding communities, as stakeholders continue to advocate for inclusive development policies that recognize the vital role women play in national and community development.
