NIMBA COUNTY – The campaign team of the lone female candidate in the just ended Nimba County by-election says Madame Edith Gongloe-Weh is in a comfortable lead.

Campaign Chairperson Emmanuel Yartoe told an early morning news conference on Wednesday that with a total of 85% count in their war room suggest that Gongloe-Weh has obtained 30,000 more votes while their contender Samuel Kogar has obtained 28,000 votes.

Chairman Yartoe named Nimba County District #8 as one of the places that gave Madame Gongloe-Weh more votes – over 9,000 votes, he said.

“District #8, I can put them on my back. They have the highest votes given to any candidate ever. District #8 came out with 9000 votes for Edith Gongloe-Weh while the same district gave Kogar 2,600 votes.” He said.

“So far with almost all the votes coming, we are leading Kogar 2812 votes. Edith got 30,000, Kogar got 28,000. We are saying Nimba has spoken. The National Elections Commission must do the right thing.” Chairman Yartoe said.

He questioned the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) for congratulating Samuel Kogar as the winner of the Nimba County 2025 by-election.

“Why is the CMC declaring their support for a guy who lost?” He asked.

On late Tuesday evening, the Citizens Movement for Change of Nimba County Representative Musa Bility congratulated Kogar – claiming that tally sheets in its possession shows that Kogar won the election.

However, the country’s electoral body (National Elections Commission) is yet to announce a single result from the by-election.
