Gbarpolu County – Patients seeking medical care at the Tarkpoima Health Center in Gbarma District, Gbarpolu County are facing serious challenges due to a shortage of essential injectable medications, which is affecting the delivery of healthcare services.
The second screener at the facility madam Grace Gboe said several critical injectable drugs, including Diclofenac, Ceftriaxone, and Gentamicin, are in short supply, posing threat to the lives of many patients in need.
She emphasized that since the health center provides free medical services, it is crucial for the government to ensure a steady supply of these medications so that residents can continue to receive treatment without unnecessary bottlenecks.
Beyond the medication shortage, Gboe highlighted additional challenges affecting the facility including the urgent need for a staff quarter, explaining that the absence of on-site accommodation for healthcare workers makes it difficult to respond to emergency cases, especially at night.
Another major concern is the size of the clinic’s delivery room.
According to Gboe, the current space is too small, limiting the movement of nurses during childbirth and making it difficult to ensure safe and efficient deliveries.
She is calling on authorities to prioritize the needs of the Tarkpoima Health Center, as its services remain a lifeline for the people of Gbarma District.
Ms. Gboe stressed that adequate medical supplies, improved infrastructure, and better working conditions for healthcare workers are essential to enhancing the facility’s ability to provide quality healthcare to the community.
