MONROVIA – The Ministry of Justice has officially announced the results of an autopsy conducted on the late Mr. Anwar Futloo, former Manager of the Boulevard Place Hotel, confirming that he died by suicide.

According to a press release issued Wednesday, the Ministry requested an autopsy shortly after the incident was reported as an alleged suicide.

The Ministry of Justice in a statement said, the eexamination was carried out on January 7, 2025, by Liberia’s state pathologist, Dr. Benedict Kolee, at the St. Moses Funeral Parlours on Somalia Drive.

The procedure was conducted in the presence of members of Mr. Futloo’s family, law enforcement officers, and mortuary attendants, ensuring transparency in the investigative process.

The Ministry stated that the autopsy findings established the cause of death as “unnatural, being consistent with a self-directed action,” confirming that Mr. Futloo took his own life.

“In view of the autopsy results, the Ministry of Justice hereby informs the public that Mr. Futloo died of suicide,” the release noted.

It added that the matter is now considered closed unless new and compelling information emerges to warrant further investigation.

Mr. Futloo’s death generated significant public interest, prompting the Ministry to reaffirm its commitment to due process and transparency in handling sensitive cases.
