MONROVIA – Gongloe & Associates, Inc., legal representatives of the family of a 14-year-old girl who alleged statutory rape against former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Bryant McGill, has formally requested that the Liberia National Police (LNP) release the full investigation report and supporting evidence related to the case.
The request follows the LNP’s public announcement on January 12, 2026, in which police declared McGill not culpable after what authorities described as an extensive investigation involving both local and international forensic analyses.

Speaking through lead counsel Cllr. Tiawan S. Gongloe, the family expressed serious concern over what they described as a lack of transparency surrounding the police’s conclusions.
In a letter addressed to Inspector General of Police, Hon. Gregory Coleman, Cllr. Gongloe requested access to the complete final investigation report, as well as documentation and certifications related to key forensic findings, including DNA analysis and digital forensic evidence.
“This case carries serious implications for justice and public trust,” Cllr. Gongloe said. “When a minor alleges a grave offense, her family is entitled to a clear understanding of how law enforcement arrived at its conclusions.”
The legal team emphasized that the request should not be interpreted as an indictment of the police’s professionalism, but rather as a necessary step toward ensuring transparency and accountability, particularly in cases involving minors and high public interest.
According to the letter, the family seeks clarity on the evidentiary basis for the decision not to proceed with prosecution, stressing that understanding the investigative process is critical to maintaining confidence in the justice system.
The correspondence further underscores the importance of openness in high-profile cases, urging the LNP to promptly release the requested materials in order to preserve public trust in law enforcement institutions.
As public attention surrounding the matter continues to grow, advocates for victims’ rights have reiterated the need for transparency and clear communication regarding investigative processes and outcomes.
Cllr. Gongloe also requested that any future correspondence concerning the case be routed through his office, reaffirming his commitment to representing the interests of the alleged victim and her family in their pursuit of justice.
