MONROVIA – A new chapter in African football has begun in Liberia. On May 14, 2025, the revolutionary five-sided game of football, originally discovered and popularized in Brazil, was officially launched in Liberia—a first for the region—through a vibrant partnership with the Liberia Football Association (LFA).
Aimed at nurturing grassroots talent, the launch marked the beginning of a dynamic new era for young athletes across the country.
The inaugural competition brought together eight (8) high schools for a thrilling pilot phase, showcasing skill, teamwork, and the raw passion of Liberian youth. The participating schools are B.W. Harris, Wells Hairston, Len Miller, Tubman High, G.W. Gibson, Haywood, Monrovia College (MC) and School of Prime System (SPS).
Hosted at the SKD Basketball Gymnasium, the tournament ran from May 14 to May 19, 2025, drawing large crowds, vibrant community support, and powerful displays of youth athleticism.
Champions Crowned
Tubman High School etched their name into history, emerging as the first-ever champions of Liberia’s 5-sided football league.
In a dominating final, they secured the title with a stunning 12–1 victory over School of Prime System (SPS).
Individual Honors
Tubman High School Lazelee Forkpah won the man of the match and highest goal scorer (12 goals) awards while his teammate Prince Carter was named the best goalkeeper.
