CHINA – In a historic address at the Sixth Qingdao Multinationals Summit, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, delivered a compelling message of economic partnership, international cooperation, and mutual prosperity.
Representing the highest-level Liberian delegation ever to attend the summit, Vice President Koung emphasized Liberia’s commitment to deepening its relationship with China and the global business community.
Bringing warm greetings from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., Vice President Koung lauded the summit as a powerful symbol of global collaboration and innovation.
“This gathering reflects the spirit of openness, collaboration, and shared progress that defines our global era,” he stated, while expressing gratitude to the organizers and the city of Qingdao for their hospitality and professionalism.
The Vice President highlighted the significance of Liberia’s first high-level participation at the summit, describing it as “a new beginning for further collaboration between Liberia and China.” He acknowledged the strong economic ties that already exist between the two nations, but expressed eagerness to explore broader and more diverse opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
“Shandong is a major economic and open province in China,” Koung noted, singling out Qingdao’s robust infrastructure, manufacturing capabilities, and emerging leadership in green energy, finance, and technology. He identified these sectors as ripe for partnership and investment that could foster innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development in Liberia.
At the heart of Vice President Koung’s message was a call for long-term, values-driven collaboration. “We want to deepen trade relations, promote joint investment opportunities, and build lasting partnerships that deliver results—not only for today, but for generations to come,” he said.
He emphasized that economic growth should go hand in hand with building trust, shared understanding, and a commitment to improving livelihoods.
Speaking against the backdrop of global economic challenges, climate change, and geopolitical uncertainty, the Vice President underscored the urgency of multinational cooperation.
“Multinational cooperation is no longer a choice—it’s an imperative,” he declared. He encouraged summit participants to seize the moment as an opportunity to rethink global business practices and commit to inclusive, sustainable development.
In closing, Vice President Koung called for the Qingdao Summit to serve not just as a reflection on progress, but as a catalyst for bold, forward-thinking partnerships.
“Let this be the beginning of a bold, forward-looking partnership between Liberia, China, and the global community—one that reflects the highest ideals of international cooperation,” he concluded.
As Liberia sets its sights on a more dynamic role in the global economy, Vice President Koung’s remarks mark a pivotal step toward building bridges with international partners and reaffirming Liberia’s place in shaping the future of global commerce and development.
