South Africa – The House of Representatives of the Republic of Liberia has officially joined the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) during the 5th Ordinary Session of the Sixth Legislature, currently underway in Midrand, South Africa.
The newly inducted Liberian delegation includes:Alex S. Noah – Head of Delegation, Alex Job Grant – Member and Marie Johnson – Member
The induction ceremony took place during a plenary session on Monday, July 21. Speaking on behalf of the Liberian delegation, Alex S. Noah emphasized the critical need for unity and decisive collective action in addressing the continent’s pressing challenges, such as climate change, youth unemployment, public health crises, insecurity, poverty, and political instability.
“Let us legislate not just for our nations, but for our neighbors. Let us build an Africa worthy of its people,” Rep. Noah urged.
He described Liberia’s membership in the PAP not merely as a formal inclusion, but as a reaffirmation of the country’s commitment to the ideals of African unity, justice, and development.
Rep. Noah also expressed hope that the current session would foster impactful dialogue, innovative ideas, and meaningful action to advance the African agenda. He hailed the PAP as a powerful symbol of the continent’s shared aspirations.
Acknowledging the delegation’s diversity, Noah noted the presence of two male and one female member. He also shared that Marie Johnson, although absent due to a family emergency, remains fully engaged and committed to her legislative responsibilities.
In conclusion, Rep. Noah reaffirmed Liberia’s readiness to collaborate with fellow parliamentarians to promote good governance, democratic values, sustainable development, and regional stability.
