Grand Kru County  – The Grand Kru County Detachment of the Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested two suspects in possession of 3,500 single-barrel cartridges in Barclayville City.

The suspects, identified as 39-year-old Henry Nimeyou and his spouse Cheadee Snoh, were apprehended in Camp Three Community after police discovered a blue barrel filled with the illegal ammunition inside their residence.

Speaking to reporters, Grand Kru County Police Commander ACP Clement Barlatt said the arrest was made during a routine community outreach initiative in response to intelligence from citizens alleging that some residents were involved in smuggling illicit substances and unauthorized weapons into the county.

ACP Barlatt commended community members for the information that led to the arrest, stressing that the police remain committed to ensuring accountability through arrests and subsequent prosecutions in court.

In a related development, ACP Barlatt revealed that police also arrested several suspected drug dealers, including a woman identified as Beatrice Kofa.

Officers confiscated quantities of marijuana, tobacco, and other dangerous substances prohibited under Liberian law.

According to the police commander, the arrested drug suspects have been turned over to the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) for further investigation.

ACP Barlatt reaffirmed the LNP’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Grand Kru County, emphasizing that these operations form part of the police’s statutory duty under Liberian law to enforce all regulations across the country.

He called on residents to continue working collaboratively with the police in the fight against illegal activities.

“The safety of our communities depends on collective effort. We urge every citizen to support the police in stamping out crime and keeping Grand Kru safe,” ACP Barlatt told reporters in his Barclayville office on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
