Monrovia – The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, has shut down the Lofa Medic Services Clinic in Neezoe, Jacob Town, following allegations of medical malpractice that led to the death of a 30-year-old man, Samuel P. Kollie.
According to preliminary findings from the LMDC’s investigation, Sam Wolobah, the clinic’s administrator, falsely posed as a medical doctor despite being an Operating Room (OR) Technician.
Report says Wolobah allegedly performed surgical procedures that resulted to the death of Kollie.
In response, the LMDC, working alongside the Ministry of Justice, ordered the immediate closure of the clinic on Monday and turned Wolobah over to the Liberia National Police (LNP) for a criminal investigation.
The LMDC expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Justice’s Public Safety Department for its support in the matter.
The Liberia Medical and Dental Council assured the public that it remains committed to rooting out unqualified practitioners and ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services in Liberia.
“The public can rest assured that through collaboration, we can weed out quacks and ensure quality healthcare,” James-Emmanuel D. Cole, Jr Head of the LMDC stated.
