NIMBA COUNTY – The National Elections Commission (NEC) of Liberia has announced that all logistical and security preparations are complete for the Representative By-Election in Nimba County’s Electoral District #5, scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, July 30, the Commission confirmed the arrival of 41,800 ballot papers, marking a major milestone in its readiness for the upcoming poll.

The ballots were printed by Buck Press Limited in Ghana and transported to Liberia via Kenya Airways, arriving at Roberts International Airport (RIA) in Margibi County.

The NEC detailed that the delivery was conducted under tight security and full transparency. Representatives from the Liberia National Police (LNP), members of the local media, and the NEC’s own technical team oversaw the arrival and handling of the sensitive election materials. Upon landing, the consignment was escorted securely from the airport to the NEC’s Central Warehouse located on 9th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia.

“This level of coordination underscores our commitment to ensuring a transparent, credible, and peaceful by-election process,” the NEC said on it official facebook page.

The by-election in Nimba District #5 was necessitated by a vacancy in the House of Representatives following the ascendency of then Representative Samuel Kogar to the Senate.

With ballot papers now secured and preparations nearing completion, the NEC has called on all stakeholders—including political parties, candidates, and voters—to uphold peace and participate responsibly in the democratic process.

Security agencies, civil society observers, and international partners are expected to be deployed across the district to monitor the election, ensuring a fair and orderly process.
