200 plus young Liberians have been employed by World Steel Giant Arcelormittal following three years of rigorous training initiated by MAL.
These graduates gained essential skills for the mining industry and are qualified to work in any part of the world with the knowledge gained.
They include process operator learners, and Artisans in training and will be gainfully employed by the company (ArcelorMittal) that trained them into becoming productive citizens.
With smiles beaming on their faces, the over two hundred young Liberians were honored during an elaborate program that took place on Thursday in Yekepa with Mittal’s Global Chief Executive Officer present.
The graduates were full of praises for the life changing opportunities provided them by AML and proud themselves as some of the best mining engineers Liberia will boost in time to come.
According to them, the training and subsequent employment is a dream come true especially in the midst of high unemployment marred by Liberia’s poor economic outlook.
Cyrus Baryogar, who is one of the Artisans in training, lectured the gathering about the perseverance and the intensity of the three-year program that have grown them into productive citizens today.
As Liberia’s mining industry grows, these young men and women might be able to extend even outside of ArcelorMittal operational areas to help the nation in different capacities.

At the gathering was Arcelor Mittal’s Global Vice President for Mining Mr. Kleber Silva who praised the young men and women for their steadfastness, determination and the milestone achievement.
“I am very honored today to be a part of this celebration of your achievements as you join us in mining and this great investment. The AML Executive said.
According to him, what the graduates have learned is invaluable, not just for Liberia or Africa, but they will be able to perform on a global scale.
Mr. Kleber noted that the young graduates are entering the AML workforce at a very crucial time when the company is expanding its iron ore production and modernizing its operations to remain competitive on the global market.
AML Phase II Expansion

ArcelorMittal has committed that its more than $2 billion Phase II expansion project will create more than 2000 jobs, stimulate the Liberian economy and boost development of the nation.
The expansion will not only impact job creation, boost the economy, and strengthen Liberia’s economy but authorities say it will significantly boost iron ore production.
The expansion will increase production from 5 million tonnes per annum to 15MTPA with 75% of the output being blended products.
