Tubmanburg – The Bomi Community College (BCC) and the Community of Hope Agriculture Project (CHAP) have entered into a one-year partnership aimed at expanding agricultural production in Bomi County.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 on the campus of Bomi Community College in Tubmanburg.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, BCC’s President Dr. Zobong Norman described the partnership as a major step forward for the institution.
He emphasized that the agreement allows CHAP to utilize lowland provided by the college for cultivating Liberian rice.
“The partnership would also provide students, particularly those in the agriculture department, with greater exposure to modern farming techniques.” Dr. Norman said.
He noted that CHAP’s involvement will enhance students’ practical knowledge through a demonstration site on the college’s campus.
For his part, the Executive Director of CHAP, Rev. Robert Bimba, expressed excitement about the collaboration and said the initiative will introduce agribusiness concepts and innovative agricultural technologies to students at the institution.
Rev. Bimba added “the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions will create opportunities for students to participate in practical training, internships, and other educational programs to improve their skills in the agricultural sector.”
He further emphasized that the initiative aligns with CHAP’s broader goal of promoting food security and empowering smallholder farmers through modern farming techniques.
The partnership is expected to strengthen agricultural education at the Bomi Community College while boosting local food production in Bomi County.
The Community of Hope Agriculture Project (CHAP) is a Liberian-based organization dedicated to enhancing food security, improving agricultural productivity, and empowering smallholder farmers through modern farming techniques.
