MONROVIA – With 92% votes tallied by the National Elections Commission, Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction candidate Samuel Kogar has taken a very comfortable lead over his main challenger Edith Gongloe-Weh.

The electoral commission has already counted votes from 682 out of 736 polling places – representing 92.66% of the total votes cast on April 22, 2025.

With official records from the National Elections Commission, Kogar leads with 56,706 votes, constituting 51.34%. The closest to Rep. Kogar is an independent candidate backed by the opposition Edith Gongloe-Weh with 38,454 votes or 34.87%.

With less than 8% of polling places remaining, Kogar is on his way to obtain a decisive victory which will lead him to replacing the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson.

54 polling places are yet to be counted as the National Elections Commission will in the coming days announce the winner of the April 22, 2025 by-election result.
