Todee District — The WASH Legislative Caucus, led by its Chairman Thomas Goshua, has concluded a three-day visit to Todee District in Rural Montserrado County to evaluate water and sanitation needs and strengthen community-based efforts to provide safe drinking water.
According to the House of Representatives, the visit, held from December 4–6, 2025, sought to identify challenges residents face in accessing clean water.
Initiated by District Representative Rugie Barrie, the assessment focused on local initiatives such as Community-Based Enterprises (CBEs) and Project Management Committees (PMCs), which empower communities to manage and sustain water projects effectively.
WaterAid Liberia’s Country Director, Chuchu Selma, highlighted the importance of collaboration with local authorities and announced upcoming assessments for the construction of new water pumps to improve access to potable water.
Representative Augustine Chiwolo, Co-Chairman of the WASH Legislative Caucus, expressed gratitude to WaterAid for its continued support and commended residents for the robust management systems they have established to maintain water infrastructure.
Local leaders also emphasized that government backing, combined with active community participation, is critical to ensuring the long-term sustainability of water projects.
The visit reinforces ongoing efforts to improve water and sanitation services in Todee District, with a strong focus on advocacy for increased funding, policy support, and community-led development.
