Barclayville – The Ministry of Agriculture of Liberia has described agriculture as the nation’s most reliable pathway to sustainable economic growth and enhanced food security.

He emphasized that coastal counties will play a key role in investing in coconut farming to strengthen coconut oil production, which will be exported in large quantities from Liberia.

“Our goal is to empower Liberian farmers to engage in large-scale commercial farming, producing specific products that can be sold and generate income,” Dr. Nuetah stated.

The Agriculture Minister also commended farmers in Grand Kru County for their dedication to agricultural activities during a visit to a coconut farm in Behwen.

The visit drew excitement from local farmers and residents, who gathered to discuss challenges and opportunities in agricultural production with the Minister.

Dr. Nuetah toured several farming communities on Friday, March 13, 2026, including Grand Cess, Pinicess, Wedabo, and Grarraway, to inspect farms and identify areas where the Ministry could intervene and provide support.

Speaking on behalf of local farmers, J. Sieh Nyemah described the visit as historic, noting that residents had long hoped to host the Agriculture Minister.

He highlighted that this was the first-ever visit by a sitting Agriculture Minister to Grand Kru County and commended Dr. Nuetah for taking steps to boost rural farming initiatives.
