Monrovia — The All Liberia Coalition Party (ALCOP) has voiced strong support for the ongoing nationwide protests against the increasing drug proliferation in Liberia, describing the crisis as a serious threat to national peace and stability.
In an official statement, ALCOP’s Political Leader, Lusine Kamara, urged the government to declare the drug situation a National Emergency.
According to Mr. Kamara, this designation would grant the government broader authority to mobilize state security forces and take decisive action against drug traffickers, importers, peddlers, and users.
“The fight against drugs is central to our party’s agenda,” said Mr. Kamara. “No one or family is safe from this pandemic. If your neighbors or community are infested with drug users, we must join hands and tackle this problem from the grassroots upward.”
In addition to advocating for stronger enforcement measures, Honorable Kamara emphasized the urgent need to expand rehabilitation services.
He called for the establishment of additional rehabilitation centers and the strengthening of existing facilities to support drug users in overcoming addiction and reintegrating into their communities.
“These centers are essential in helping those affected reclaim their lives, while ongoing prevention efforts work to curb new cases of addiction,” he added.
ALCOP’s call comes amid growing public concern about the widespread impact of drug abuse on Liberia’s youth and communities.
