Grand Bassa County – A total of 140 young people from Grand Bassa County have been selected to participate in the 2025 ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) Vacation Job Program.

This follows a competitive application process that attracted 584 submissions from across the county.

The program is part of AML’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and education, implemented through its community development and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Of the 400 total vacancies allocated for Grand Bassa, Bong, and Nimba counties, Grand Bassa secured 140 slots—representing 35 percent of the regional allotment.

Designed to provide hands-on work experience during the academic break, the vacation job program targets high school graduates, university students, and vocational trainees. Participants will be placed in various departments across AML’s operations, including mining, logistics, administration, and community relations.

This annual initiative forms a key component of AML’s long-term investment in education and human capital development. In addition to the vacation job program, the company operates a Community Development Scholarship Program, specifically tailored to support high school students from fence line communities in Grand Bassa, Bong, and Nimba counties.

Hundreds of students benefit each year from this initiative, gaining access to quality secondary education. For the 2025 cycle, students from all three counties—Grand Bassa, Nimba, and Bong—will continue to benefit.

Beyond secondary education, ArcelorMittal Liberia also contributes to strengthening higher education in the country. The company provides ongoing support to Nimba University through infrastructure development, the provision of learning materials, and partnership programs aimed at improving instructional quality and academic outcomes.

On the international stage, AML offers a prestigious overseas scholarship program, giving some of Liberia’s brightest students the opportunity to study at top universities abroad.

This initiative aims to build a new generation of skilled Liberian professionals across key sectors such as mining, engineering, environmental science, and business.

The 2025 Vacation Job Program further underscores AML’s strategic focus on youth development, job readiness, and sustainable workforce growth. All selected applicants from Grand Bassa County are required to report to the office of the County Superintendent in Buchanan to complete their onboarding process by 12:00 noon on Friday, August 8, 2025.

ArcelorMittal Liberia continues to demonstrate its commitment to national development—both through its core operations and through targeted investments in the education and future of Liberia’s youth.
