ANC Accuses NEC of Replacing Qualified Contractors with Kogar’s Loyalists

By: Contributor

Monrovia – The Alternative National Congress has accused the National Elections Commission of substituting contractors previously vetted, trained and approved through standard procedures with loyal supporters of Represntative Samuel Kogar.

Kogar is one of the leading candidates in the April 22, 2025 by-elections in Nmba County.

The ANC of Mr. Alexander Cummings says it is troubled over credible reports indicating that qualified and officially accepted contractors of the National Elections Commission (NEC) have been abruptly replaced in Nimba County ahead of the crucial Senatorial by-election.

“The ANC has received alarming information suggesting that these contractors, who were previously vetted, trained, and approved through standard NEC procedures, are being removed and substituted with individuals alleged to be loyal supporters of Representative Samuel Kogar—a candidate in the ongoing by-election heavily backed by the Unity Party government.”

“This blatant interference in the electoral process threatens the integrity and fairness of the upcoming by-election, and places our Candidate, Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh, who stands a better chance at a disadvantage” the ANC stated.

“Replacing neutral and trained NEC personnel with political loyalists not only undermines the independence of the Commission but also raises serious concerns about voter manipulation and election credibility in the Nimba County by-election.”

It called on the National Elections Commission (NEC) to launch an immediate investigation into the matter, as well as intervention from national and international observers.

“We are calling on the NEC to explain the basis for these last-minute personnel changes and to restore all legitimate contractors to their roles. Anything less would constitute a grave betrayal of public trust and a dangerous precedent for our democracy, something we will not accept.” the statement continued.

The ANC them reaffirms its commitment to a peaceful electoral process and urges all stakeholders—especially the NEC—to uphold the principles of impartiality, legality, and accountability in the execution of their duties.
