Liberia – The Revolutionary National Youth League (RNYL) of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has raised serious allegations of financial misconduct amounting to more than US$80 million at the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC).
The allegations center on LPRC Managing Director Amos Tweh, who also serves as Secretary General of the ruling Unity Party.

According to the Youth League, documents it has reviewed suggest that revenues collected from petroleum importers were not fully reported to government, allegedly in violation of Liberia’s Public Financial Management framework.
The RNYL further claims there are concerns regarding the reported use of private accounts allegedly linked to family members of the LPRC Managing Director.
In response, the Youth League is calling for immediate intervention by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and the General Auditing Commission (GAC), urging both institutions to launch comprehensive and independent investigations into the matter.
The group emphasized that no public official should be shielded from scrutiny, stressing that transparency and accountability are critical at a time when many Liberians are grappling with economic hardship.
The Youth League’s statement also follows recent public defense remarks made by CDC National Executive Committee members, including National Vice Chairman for Mobilization Musa Konneh and Grand Bassa County Chairman Janjay Baikphe.
Their comments, according to the RNYL, have intensified concerns about political accountability and governance standards.
The RNYL reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly and that the Unity Party-led government remains accountable to the Liberian people.
