CEMESP entered the agreement in its capacity as a Cluster Lead under the Legislative Monitoring Coalition of Liberia (LEMCOL), a civil society platform aimed at enhancing oversight of the country’s lawmaking process.

The four-month grant, valued at US$24,000, runs from January 1 to April 30, 2026. Under the project, CEMESP will deploy journalists to monitor the workings and operations of Liberia’s National Legislature, with a focus on promoting transparency, accountability, and public access to legislative processes.

In addition to legislative monitoring, the project will facilitate legislative and constituency engagement activities in Grand Cape Mount, Grand Bassa, and Rivercess Counties.

These engagements are intended to promote informed citizen participation, strengthen legislative oversight, and deepen democratic accountability at both national and local levels.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts by development partners and civil society organizations to reinforce democratic governance in Liberia through media engagement, citizen awareness, and institutional transparency.
