MONROVIA – The Political leader of the Alternative National Congress Alexander Cummings has described as an acts of the patriotism that deserve recognition, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa’s “steadfastness during the house crisis and his expressed willingness to “make the ultimate sacrifice” in defense of Liberia’s democratic values and constitutional framework.
“I also wish to acknowledge and commend Hon. Speaker J. Fonati Koffa for his courage, restraint, and statesmanship. His steadfastness during this period, and his expressed willingness to “make the ultimate sacrifice” in defense of Liberia’s democratic values and constitutional framework, are acts of patriotism that deserve recognition.” He wrote on Facebook.
The two times defeated Presidential Candidate said “in the face of political tension and uncertainty, the Court has spoken with authority and fairness.”
According to Mr. Cummings, the Supreme Court ruling provides a necessary foundation for national stability and reaffirms that the laws of Liberia must be respected by ALL – regardless of position or political alignment.
He acknowledged and commended Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa for his courage, restraint, and statesmanship in the troubled times of the House of Representatives.
“In times like these, true leadership is defined not by personal ambition, but by one’s readiness to place country above self.”
President Must Uphold Court’s Ruling
Mr. Cummings said, now, the responsibility lies with President Joseph N. Boakai to fully uphold and enforce the Supreme Court’s ruling without delay.
“As the custodian of our Constitution and the foremost public servant of the Republic, he must demonstrate respect for the rule of law and the authority of our courts.”
He said anything less would undermine public confidence in the governance of the nation.
“Liberia’s progress depends on the integrity of our institutions and the moral courage of our leaders. Let us each do our part in protecting our democracy and securing a better future for generations to come.” Mr. Cummings said.
