Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has appointed Mr. Alphonso Y. Belleh as Acting Deputy Minister for Youth Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The appointment follows the suspension of Deputy Minister Bryant McGill.

Suspended Minister McGill stands accused of raping a 14-year-old girl nearly two weeks ago. Sources said he has denied the allegations but the Liberia National Police says it has launched an immediate investigation.

President Boakai emphasized that the decision was taken to ensure uninterrupted leadership within the ministry, particularly in advancing programs that empower and inspire Liberia’s youth.

The Liberian leader has urged all stakeholders to fully support Acting Deputy Minister Belleh as he takes on his new responsibilities in service to the nation.
