MARGIBI – The roar of heavy machinery has transformed into a sound of optimism across Margibi County, where the arrival of new yellow earth-moving equipment has kicked off an ambitious road-rebuilding initiative, sparking widespread public enthusiasm and reshaping the local political landscape.

For years, crumbling roads and unpaved corridors have severed rural communities from essential markets, clinics, and schools, particularly during the heavy rainy seasons.
Today, the deployment of state-of-the-art graders and excavators is turning impassable dirt tracks into smoother, more accessible roads.
For local traders and farmers, the heavy equipment represents far more than steel and diesel; it represents economic survival.
“We used to lose half our produce before even reaching the market because the transport trucks would get stuck in the mud for days,” said Yamah Flomo, a produce vendor at the Kakata Central Market. “With these machines clearing and leveling our main roads, the travel time has been cut in half. Transport costs are dropping, and our goods are arriving fresh. It feels like a burden has been lifted off our shoulders.”
The infrastructure drive has brought a renewed sense of mobility to towns and rural villages alike, allowing ambulances to navigate previously inaccessible areas and enabling children to attend school without wading through waterlogged tracks.
The visible progress on the ground has also rapidly translated into political momentum. Impressed by the speed and tangible results of the infrastructure rollout, community leaders and grassroots supporters are already voicing strong backing for President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s long-term vision.
“People don’t eat promises; they drive on good roads,” declared Emmanuel Kollie, a prominent youth activist in Margibi. “President Boakai promised us development, and today we are seeing the machines at work right in front of our homes. The administration has earned our trust, and the message from Margibi is clear: we are ready to grant him a second mandate to complete this transformation.”
As earth-moving crews continue their push through the county’s interior, local authorities assure residents that this is only the first phase of a broader nationwide effort to connect every major district through reliable, durable road networks.
