PAYNESVILLE – The Ministry of Youth and Sports has officially transitioned leadership, with Atty. Cornelia W. Kruah assuming office as Minister, succeeding Cllr. Jerror Cole Bangalu.
Cllr. Bangalu, who now heads the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), handed over what he described as a reform-driven legacy.
His tenure was highlighted by the development of a new Five-Year Strategic Plan and the graduation of hundreds of vocational students through the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) and the Booker Washington Institute’s Demonstration Occupational Training Center (B-DOTC).

In his farewell remarks, Bangalu urged the incoming Minister to prioritize the signing and full implementation of the TVET Commission Act, which aims to strengthen technical and vocational education nationwide.
He also emphasized the urgent need for the construction of a permanent headquarters for the Ministry.
Taking the helm, Minister Kruah — one of the youngest individuals ever appointed to the post — struck a firm and reform-oriented tone.
She made it clear that her administration would operate on a “results-only” culture, stressing that performance, not personal relationships, would determine professional standing within the Ministry.
While acknowledging persistent budgetary and logistical constraints, Kruah pledged to advocate for improved civil service salaries, tying her push for better compensation to expectations of punctuality, discipline, and measurable productivity.
Her appointment signals what could be a generational shift in leadership at Youth and Sports, as stakeholders watch closely to see how her performance-driven agenda unfolds.
