Freetown, Sierra Leone The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) is conducting a five-day study visit to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone from July 28 to August 1, 2025, aimed at fostering deeper bilateral collaboration and mutual learning between the two institutions.

The visit was officially launched at a welcome ceremony held at ACC’s Integrity House in Freetown.

During his remarks, LACC Vice Executive Chairperson Ernest Hughes emphasized the value of initiating institutional reform through partnership with a trusted neighbor, citing the deep historical and regional ties between Liberia and Sierra Leone.

“Beginning this reform journey with a trusted neighbor underscores our commitment to collaborative learning and transformation,” Hughes said.

He also expressed LACC’s interest in formalizing a twinning arrangement with the ACC, which would strengthen joint efforts in fighting corruption across both countries.

ACC Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala and Deputy Commissioner Augustine Foday Ngobie welcomed the Liberian delegation and pledged their full support.

Both officials reaffirmed the ACC’s dedication to transparency, open collaboration, and the sharing of best practices.

The visiting LACC team includes Vivian S. Akoto, Executive Assistant and Program Manager in the Office of the Executive Chairperson, and John E. Tommy, Program Manager for Education and Prevention.

As part of the visit, the delegation is touring various ACC departments to study their systems, strategies, and operational models.

This strategic engagement marks a significant milestone in regional anti-corruption cooperation and highlights the LACC’s commitment to institutional strengthening and reform.
