LFA and Tubman University Sign Landmark Coach Education Partnership

By: Perry B. Zordyu

MONROVIA – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has entered into a partnership with William V.S. Tubman University in Maryland County to launch a coach education program—marking a significant milestone in football development and academic collaboration in Liberia.

The initiative is designed to strengthen ties between the academic and sports sectors by creating more opportunities for student-athletes and elevating the standard of football across the country.

It aims to build the capacity of coaches through certified courses and provide a structured educational pathway for future football professionals.

The agreement was officially signed on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the LFA headquarters in Paynesville by representatives of both institutions.

As part of the partnership, Tubman University will begin offering certified coaching courses for the first time—formalizing coach education at the university level in Liberia.

The program will also introduce other specialized football-related courses in the future.

LFA President Mustapha Raji praised the initiative, calling it “commendable, timely, and deserving,” especially for young aspiring coaches who now have a new avenue for professional development.

The signing ceremony coincided with the ongoing CAF A License Coaching Course hosted at the LFA headquarters, where 15 coaches—including participants from Zambia and The Gambia—took part in a rigorous training following nearly seven months of study.

This partnership is expected to not only raise the quality of coaching in Liberia but also contribute to the long-term professionalization of the sport.
