FIFA Appoints Raji as Deputy Chairman of Olympics Football Committee

By: Perry B. Zordyu

Monrovia, Liberia — World football governing body FIFA has appointed Liberia Football Association (LFA) President Mustapha I. Raji as Deputy Chairman of the FIFA Olympics Football Committee for the period 2025–2029.

The appointment was confirmed on Thursday, October 2, during the FIFA Council meeting held in Zurich, Switzerland.

According to FIFA, the decision followed a comprehensive consultation process involving its Member Associations and confederations, through which members of the newly established Standing Committees were selected for the 2025–2029 term.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino noted that the committees were created to enhance global football governance.

“The new Standing Committees will lead to greater involvement of our Member Associations, the confederations, and other stakeholders in our decision-making processes — with increased female representation and more focused technical expertise in areas relevant to football,” Infantino said.

Raji’s appointment is being celebrated as a major recognition of his growing influence and the respect he commands both continentally and globally in football administration.

The Liberia Football Association has extended its congratulations to President Raji, expressing pride in his continued leadership and commitment to the advancement of African and world football.
