MONROVIA – Ministry of Health (MOH), in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Partners In Health (PIH), and Sight Savers, has launched a three-day policy development meeting aimed at promoting gender equity and preventing sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) within Liberia’s health sector.
Held from May 6 to 8, 2025, the meeting brings together a technical working group of experts and stakeholders to draft a comprehensive safeguarding and gender equity policy framework.
“This initiative marks a critical step toward strengthening the MOH’s commitment to creating safer, more inclusive healthcare environments,” a statement from the Ministry of Health said.
The new policy framework, once finalized and adopted, will guide the ministry’s operations by establishing clear protocols for addressing gender disparities and safeguarding against sexual misconduct.
According to the MOH the collaborative process reflects both international best practices and the unique challenges facing Liberia’s health system.
Throughout the three-day workshop, participants are reviewing existing MOH frameworks on gender, social inclusion, and safeguarding, identifying policy gaps, and assessing current risks.
The outcome will be a practical roadmap for rolling out the policy across all health departments and facilities nationwide.
