Rivercess Ex-Superintendent and CDC Local Chairman Appeals for Urgent Medical Assistance

Careysburg, Liberia – J. Besmark Karbiah, the former Superintendent of Rivercess County and longtime Rivercess County Chairman of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), has issued a passionate plea to the Government and the CDC leadership for urgent assistance to seek advanced medical care.

Karbiah, who was appointed Superintendent in 2018 by then-President George Manneh Weah, recounted that only a few months into his service, he was suddenly stricken with a serious illness while carrying out his duties in office.

Despite efforts to seek treatment within Liberia, his health reportedly continued to deteriorate, leaving him in desperate need of specialized care abroad.

Speaking to Liberia Excellent News Network at his Careysburg home, Karbiah detailed the struggles he has faced over the past several years, both physically and emotionally, due to his worsening condition.

“I am appealing to the Government of Liberia and to the CDC leadership to come to my aid. My health is deteriorating rapidly, and I urgently need to seek advanced treatment outside Liberia,” Karbiah pleaded. “I have served my county and my party with dedication and loyalty. Today, I am humbly asking for their support at this time of great need.”

Karbiah emphasized that despite his contributions to the CDC and his role in local governance, he has received limited support in addressing his health challenges. He warned that without urgent intervention, his condition could become fatal.

His call for assistance underscores the broader challenges many former officials face in accessing quality healthcare after leaving public service, particularly when they are no longer actively in government roles.
