The deceased has been identified as Mr. Dennis Flomo. According to eyewitness accounts, Mr. Flomo died after stabbing himself during what was described as a test of the ritual’s claimed ability to protect the human body from sharp objects.

Community residents reported that Mr. Flomo purchased four knives on Friday morning with the intention of demonstrating or testing the knife-protection practice. Witnesses said he initially attempted to stab himself with three of the knives, none of which reportedly penetrated his skin.

Tragedy struck, however, when he attempted to use the fourth knife, which allegedly pierced his chest and caused severe bleeding.

Community members immediately rushed Mr. Flomo to the Henry Town Clinic for emergency medical treatment. Medical personnel at the facility confirmed that he was pronounced dead upon arrival due to excessive blood loss from the chest wound.

The incident has left residents of Gbeleeta in shock, with many expressing concern over the dangers associated with traditional rituals involving self-harm or unverified spiritual practices.

Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Police officials say the inquiry will establish whether any individuals encouraged, organized, or influenced the ritual attempt.

Meanwhile, community leaders are calling for increased public awareness about the risks of dangerous traditional practices and are urging citizens to prioritize safety and seek lawful, non-harmful means of cultural expression.

Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
