MONROVIA — The ruling Unity Party has taken full responsibility for the controversial concession agreement with Liberia Traffic Management Incorporated (LTMI), pledging to address any shortcomings in the deal.
In a candid statement issued Thursday, Unity Party official Mo Ali said the government will neither deflect blame nor share criticism over the LTMI agreement, which has drawn significant public backlash in recent weeks.
“If it is a bad concession, we will fix it,” Ali declared. “We share that responsibility with no one else. We alone will take the public beating and bashing for this.”
Ali also emphasized that the Unity Party will similarly claim full credit for any successes under its administration, distancing itself from attempts to attribute completed projects to past governments.
“It is in the same vein that the Unity Party-led government will take all the glories and praises for each, every and all projects that we complete,” he said. “We will share glories with no previous governments just as we are not going to share any public bashing with any previous governments.”
The statement comes amid mounting criticism of the LTMI deal, which grants a private firm oversight of traffic management and enforcement in Monrovia. Critics have raised concerns about transparency, legality, and the impact on motorists and public trust.
Ali’s remarks mark the administration’s most direct acknowledgment of responsibility for the agreement, signaling a shift toward addressing public concerns rather than deflecting blame.
