We Faced Orchestrated Intimidation, Obstruction, Lies – Edith Gongloe-Weah Claims

NIMBA COUNTY – Days following the announcement of the final results of the Nimba County Senatorial by-election, defeated candidate Eidth Gongloe-Weah says she faced an orchestrated campaign of intimidation, obstruction and lies.

Madame Gongloe-Weh told OK FM – a local radio station in Monrovia that those who led the alleged intimidation, obstruction and lies were individuals who fear change and are fortified by the very systems meant to protect democracy.

“What we faced was not just a political opposition. It was an orchestrated campaign of intimidation, obstruction and lies spread by those who fear change and fortified by the very systems meant to protect democracy” she said.

The defeated candidate alleged that public offices, media channels, law enforcement, and several bureaucratic tools were used with the signal aim of stopping her momentum and the voices of the voters.

She said despite the overwhelming force of an entire state apparatus lined up against her, she stood and persisted because her fight was never just about politics but about principles, truth, the right of every citizen regardless gender or power to stand up.

“Despite the overwhelming force of an entire state apparatus lined up against us, we stood and persisted because our fight was never just about politics but about principles, truth, the right of every citizen regardless gender or power to stand up and participate. This campaign has always been bigger than this one woman, Edith said.

“It is about the courage to speak out when it is easier to be silent or it is easier to take the money and walk. It is about proving that even the most entrenched systems of power can be challenged not with wealth, not with influence but with integrity, resilience and the unshakable belief that good leadership and women’s political participation is worth fighting for,” she noted.

Madame Gongloe-Weh then encouraged her supporters to keep their heads up high with pride – saying they stood tall in the face of challenges, systemic vices and that their courage cannot be defeated.

“Let this moment remind us that the real change is a journey, not a single battle but a sustained fight for what is right. Let’s keep the fire burning, let’s keep organization, mobilizing and building the future we believe in. The road ahead may be long, but with you by my side, I know that Nimba’s best days are still yet to come,” the defeated candidate said.
