PAYNESVILLE – Sunday night at the SKD Gym was one to remember, as the LBA League delivered an evening rich with emotion, skill, and unforgettable moments across both the men’s and women’s divisions.
In the women’s division, the seasoned Desert Ladies asserted their dominance with a commanding 53–24 victory over the debuting Highway Skylights. From tip-off to the final buzzer, the Desert Ladies maintained control, handing the Skylights a 29-point defeat and offering a tough but valuable lesson in their inaugural season.
However, the night’s most touching and memorable highlight came from the men’s second division, where a rare father-son pairing took center stage. Wallace Seongbae Sr., 40, and his 18-year-old son, Wallace T. Seongbae Jr., played side by side for Bushord Dreams in a heated rivalry match against the Bushord Ballers. The Dreams triumphed with a 63–53 win.
The Seongbaes called the experience emotional and historic as they reflected on the opportunity to share the court.
“I left the Bushord Bulls senior team just to return to the second division and play alongside my son,” said Seongbae Sr. “Bushord Dreams and Bushord Ballers are fierce rivals—we even practice on the same court in Logan Town. Winning this game, especially with my son, whom I had at age 22, makes it incredibly special.”
Smiling, he added, “While on the court, I even gave him an instruction—and he followed it.”
Wallace Jr., visibly moved, described the experience as a dream realized. “My father does so much for me. Even though he’s my teammate, I see him first as a father, both on and off the court. His guidance in basketball and in life means everything. We made history tonight, and it’s a memory we’ll always cherish.”
Their performance was more than just a win for Bushord Dreams—it was a powerful celebration of family, legacy, and the enduring love of the game.
