MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Liberian International Mohammed Kamara is firing from every angle for FC Cluj in the Romanian Super Liga.

He scored his club opening goal in their 2-0 win over Universital on Monday, April 7, 2025.

The Liberia International has now scored 7-goals in his last seven matches in the league.

Monday’s victory moved FC Cluj 2nd place with 33points and 2-points below table toppers, Steaua Bucuresti who are on 35 points.

Keka as he is affectionately called, has earned several caps with the senior national team of Liberia, the Lonestar.

He was part of the Liberian side that managed a 2-2 draw in South Africa during former Coach Ansu Keita era for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers which was held in Ivory Coast, but lost the return fixture in Monrovia 2-1 to end their hope of qualifying.

The forward was also extended an invitation by Lonestar Stand in Coach Thomas Kojo for Liberia’s matches in the Group H qualifiers for CAF 2026 FIFA World Cup against Tunisia and Sao Tome and Principe at SKD on March 19 and 24.

However, the Romanian based player sent in an excuse due to injuries that engulfed his early season to stay away from both encounters.

The Liberian nation’s pride and joy lost 1-0 against Tunisia but managed a 2-1 win over Sao Tome and Principe to maintain 3rd place.

But their chances of qualifying for their first World Cup are very limited based on the points gap between they and the table leaders

Tunisia remains a runaway leader with 16 points from six matches as Namibia sits 2nd with 12 points, while Liberia in 3rd with 10 points followed by Equatorial Guinea 4th with 7-points, Malawi 5th with 6-points and Sao Tome and Principe are bottom with zero.

The expanding 48 2026 FIFA World Cup is poised to take place in Mexico, USA and Canada with Africa given nine slots.
