MONROVIA – Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe, Jr., Chairman of the Political Affairs, Peace, Security, and APRM Committee at the ECOWAS Parliament, has been officially invited to serve as a panellist at the upcoming 2025 Democracy Dialogue organized by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF).

The high-level Dialogue is scheduled to take place on September 17, 2025, in Accra, Ghana, under the theme: “Why Democracies Die.”

It will bring together eminent leaders, policymakers, civil society actors, and democracy advocates from across Africa and beyond to interrogate the systemic and structural drivers of democratic decline.

According to the Foundation, the forum comes at a crucial time when many democracies are facing rising authoritarianism, institutional fragility, and shrinking civic space.

The discussions will focus on how democratic systems are weakened or dismantled, and what practical measures can be taken to safeguard and revitalize them.

Although participation is self-sponsored, the Foundation has assured participants of logistical guidance, including hotel recommendations, visa facilitation, and local transportation support to ensure a smooth experience in Accra.

Senator Snowe’s invitation underscores his prominent role in regional peace and governance efforts within the ECOWAS Parliament and beyond.

His expected participation is anticipated to enrich conversations on strengthening democracy and promoting political stability in West Africa.

The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, founded by Nigeria’s former President Goodluck Jonathan, has become a leading platform for dialogue on democracy, peace, and sustainable development across the continent.
