Speaking at the ceremony, Rep. Konneh said the initiative underscores his commitment to sustainable, community-driven development.
He emphasized the importance of public schools in expanding access to education, particularly for families whose children attend schools based on proximity rather than financial capacity.
According to the lawmaker, the additional classrooms will significantly reduce congestion and create a more supportive environment for effective teaching and learning.
He noted that the project was realized through legislative engagement and collaboration with relevant government institutions, stressing that the funding represents public resources secured through advocacy and cooperation.
Rep. Konneh called on local leaders and residents to take collective ownership of the project and ensure its protection once completed.
Johnsonville Township Commissioner John Randall described the groundbreaking as a tangible step toward improving education in the community, noting that it reflects a shift from political rhetoric to concrete action.
School Principal Victor L. King welcomed the initiative, citing persistent challenges related to overcrowded classrooms and limited space.
He said the new annex will help create a more conducive learning environment for both students and teachers.
Also speaking at the event, Montserrado County School System Board Chair Amos Karneh praised the initiative and pledged continued collaboration with district leadership in line with Liberia’s national education policies.
Students and community members in attendance expressed optimism that the project, once completed, will enhance academic performance and improve school safety.
