Labour Ministry Staff Receive Capacity Building Certificates from LIPA

Monrovia – Several staff of the Ministry of Labour have received certificates following the completion of a capacity-building training program conducted by the Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA).

The training focused on Monitoring, Project Management, and Public Financial Management.

The certification ceremony, held at the Ministry of Labour in Monrovia, featured India’s Ambassador accredited to Liberia, H.E. Manoj Bihari Verma, as keynote speaker.

Ambassador Verma reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the enhancement of Liberia’s technical and human resource sectors.

The Indian Envoy noted that India-Liberia bilateral cooperation has grown significantly in recent months, with trade increasing by an impressive 54 percent, reaching nearly USD 400 million in the 2024–2025 financial year.

He emphasized that the strong partnership between the two nations is rooted in shared democratic values and mutual respect.

Ambassador Verma assured officials at the Labour Ministry of India’s continued support in offering opportunities to Liberian public sector workers through technical and professional training programs.

For his part, Labour Minister Hon. Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah, Sr., expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the training by his staff. He urged them to apply the newly acquired skills to enhance productivity and efficiency in their respective departments.

“This achievement aligns with the transformative goals of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID) under the Rescue Mission Government,” Minister Kruah emphasized.

Also speaking at the event, Civil Service Agency (CSA) Director-General Hon. Josiah Joekai, and LIPA Deputy Director-General for Administration, Michael Wah, commended the Labour Ministry for prioritizing staff development.

They described the initiative as essential for meeting the standards of the government’s Performance Management Compliance System (PMCS).

Atty. Jamaima Harris, PMCS Team Lead at the Cabinet Secretariat of the Executive Mansion, underscored the strategic importance of ongoing training for personnel in government ministries and agencies, stressing its relevance to national development goals.

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, Labour Ministry Director of Personnel, Mr. Mohfel Dekpah, expressed gratitude to Minister Kruah and his administration for investing in staff development. He pledged that the new skills would be used to support the implementation of AAID through the PMCS framework.

Meanwhile, several Labour Ministry staff are expected to depart Liberia shortly to undergo similar capacity-building training in neighboring Sierra Leone.
