Speaking in an exclusive interview, Dr. Mehdeh said she inherited a “deplorable” health system, marked by damaged infrastructure, inadequate electricity, and other constraints that undermined service delivery.

Despite these challenges, she noted that progress has been made to stabilise and improve healthcare services across the county.

“We have 20 public health facilities across River Gee County, and I am committed to ensuring that our people receive improved and quality healthcare under my leadership,” she said.

However, Dr. Mehdeh expressed concern over persistent logistical challenges, particularly the lack of adequate transportation for health workers and patients.

She stressed the urgent need for additional ambulances to transport patients from remote and hard-to-reach communities.

“The level of work required in this county demands stronger logistical support, especially in emergency transportation,” she said. “We need more ambulances to help move patients in critical conditions.”

Dr. Mehdeh appealed for increased support to strengthen transport systems and other logistics, which she said are essential for timely and effective healthcare delivery.

“The county needs additional support, especially in emergency transportation, to help us provide quality healthcare to our people,” she added.

She also expressed gratitude to Liberia’s Health Minister, Dr. Louise Kpoto, describing her as a visionary leader whose trust and support have motivated the county health team.

“The confidence shown in me by Minister Kpoto has inspired our team to continue working towards better service delivery for the people of River Gee,” Dr. Mehdeh said.

Liberia Excellent News Network will continue to monitor developments as health authorities seek additional resources to address logistical gaps and improve patient care.
