MONROVIA – High school students across Liberia have recorded strong performances in core academic subjects alongside an exceptional 100% pass rate in technical and vocational fields, according to official statistics released by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Liberia Office.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Ministry of Information, WAEC Liberia Head Mr. Dale Gbotoe presented the performance metrics for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Mathematics registered an impressive 82.52% pass rate, with 44,671 out of 54,135 candidates passing the subject.
Most notably, every candidate who sat for technical and vocational disciplines successfully passed, achieving an unprecedented 100% pass rate.
In light of these results, WAEC is urging secondary schools nationwide to expand vocational training programs to further foster technical skills development among young Liberians.
According to Mr. Gbotoe, the technical and vocational category encompasses Auto Mechanics, Blocklaying and Concrete Works, Plumbing and Pipefitting, Technical Drawing, and Welding and Fabrication Engineering Craft Practice.

While science and core humanities subjects hovered between 70% and 78%, Literature-in-English presented a notable challenge, recording the lowest pass rate of the examination session at just 31.98%.
Education stakeholders are expected to review these results to address learning gaps in reading and literary analysis moving forward.
