Grand Bassa County – Ayounda Kickball Club has emerged as champions of the 2024–2025 Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) Grand Bassa Sub-Association Second Division League, following a dramatic 3–3 draw against rivals Gbehzohn Sisters Kickball Club at the Dorris Williams Sports Stadium.
Ayounda KC entered the grand final needing only a draw to clinch the title, while Gbehzohn Sisters needed a win to keep their hopes alive.
In a gripping contest marked by teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship, Ayounda held firm and secured the crucial point, finishing the season with 31 points and 53 home runs, enough to seal their place at the top of the league table.
The end-of-season celebration concluded with a vibrant awards ceremony, honoring standout performers and contributors: Most Valuable Player (MVP): Mercy B. Flomo (Ayounda KC) – Celebrated for her leadership and exceptional performance; Best Coach: Abraham Karr (Ayounda KC) – Recognized for guiding his team to victory; Best Pitcher: Alice Toby (Destiny Girls KC) – Honored for consistency and dominance on the mound; Highest Home Runs: Suah-Hope KC – Led the league with 16 home runs’ Best Referee: Mr. Dyujay Johnson – Commended for fairness and professionalism throughout the season.
With their success, Ayounda KC, Destiny Girls KC, Gbehzohn Sisters KC, and Suah-Hope KC have all qualified to represent Grand Bassa County in the upcoming 2025 LKF National Second Division Playoffs in Bong County.
This thrilling season marked a significant milestone in the rise of women’s kickball in Grand Bassa County, showcasing record attendance, strong fan engagement, and the emergence of new talent.
The league continues to serve as a powerful platform for empowering young women through sport, uniting communities, and growing national interest in Liberia’s beloved game.
