GUINEA – The Government of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria has offered ten (10) fully funded scholarships to Liberian students to pursue higher education in Algeria.

The announcement was made on Thursday, August 14, 2025, during a courtesy visit by His Excellency Dr. Abdellatif Guia, Algerian Ambassador to Guinea, to His Excellency Forkpa Gizzie, Liberia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea.

The meeting took place at the Liberian Embassy in Conakry.

Ambassador Guia formally presented a Note Verbale outlining the scholarship offer, which has been transmitted to Monrovia for further action by the relevant Liberian authorities.

During the meeting, Ambassador Gizzie welcomed the initiative and conveyed the Liberian Government’s deep appreciation to the Algerian Government for its continued support in the field of education.

He emphasized that the scholarships align with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s agenda to expand access to quality education and skills training for Liberian youth.

Ambassador Gizzie also highlighted that these opportunities will not only benefit individual students but also contribute to national development efforts by strengthening human capacity in critical sectors.

The Algerian scholarship initiative is expected to further cement the strong diplomatic ties between Liberia and Algeria, while advancing shared goals in youth empowerment and educational exchange.
