Ministry of Gender Condemns Violence After Tragic Death of 15-Year-Old in Caldwell

MONROVIA – The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of 15-year-old Precelia Tarr in Caldwell Community. Her lifeless body was discovered on the morning of Sunday, January 25, 2026, with visible injuries at the scene.

According to preliminary reports from the Liberia National Police, the victim was found under circumstances indicating sexual assault.

Emergency responders from John F. Kennedy (JFK) Memorial Hospital were immediately notified and transported her for medical examination.

In response, officials from the Ministry, working alongside the Liberia National Police, visited the affected community and engaged with the family, offering words of consolation and psychosocial support.

“This is a deeply distressing incident,” the Ministry said in a statement. “We condemn, in the strongest terms, all acts of violence, especially those targeting children.

Our commitment to protecting women and children remains unwavering, and we will ensure that perpetrators are held accountable under the law.”

The case is currently under active investigation by the Liberia National Police. The Ministry has called on the public and media to exercise restraint, avoid speculation, and respect the privacy and dignity of the victim and her family during this difficult time.

The Ministry affirmed that it will continue to work closely with law enforcement and relevant stakeholders to ensure justice is served and that the family receives all necessary support.
