Grand Kru Residents Demand Stronger Security Amid Rising Disappearances

LOCAL NEWS

GRAND KRU – Recent reports from Grand Kru County indicate a worrying increase in cases of missing persons, some of whom are later found dead under unclear circumstances, raising growing concern among residents and local authorities.

The issue has drawn the attention of the Grand Kru County Legislative Caucus. Speaking on behalf of the caucus at a church service in Barclayville over the weekend, Senator Numene T.H. Bartekwa described the situation as “deeply troubling” and urged urgent action.

His remarks followed two recent incidents that have heightened public anxiety across the county.

On April 3, 2026, a one-year-and-three-month-old child, identified as Prince Darloh, reportedly went missing in Juluken Wedabo District. Despite extensive search efforts by family members and community residents, the child has not been found.

In a separate incident, 47-year-old Aloysius Kun from Bolloh Barforwin in Dorbor Statutory District was reported missing on March 22, 2026. Days later, his body was discovered, prompting renewed questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Speaking during the Ceremony for the Donation and Consecration of Gowns and Musical Instruments to the Grand Kru County Mass Choir, Senator Bartekwa expressed condolences to the affected families and said the incidents pose a serious threat to public safety and confidence in local security systems.

“These circumstances are far from ordinary and must not be underestimated. The safety and well-being of our citizens must consistently be our foremost concern,” he said.

He called on national security agencies and local authorities to conduct thorough and transparent investigations to ensure those responsible are identified and held accountable.

Senator Bartekwa also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel by providing relevant information that could assist ongoing investigations. He further encouraged community leaders, youth groups, and civil society organizations to take an active role in safeguarding their communities.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working with relevant authorities to restore peace, security, and justice in the county, stressing that “no effort will be spared” in addressing the situation.

Meanwhile, residents across Grand Kru County are increasingly calling for stronger security presence and improved preventive measures in response to what they describe as a growing safety concern.
