LOFA COUNTY – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has described the completion of the 81-kilometre Gbarnga-Salayea Road as a major milestone in Liberia’s national development, saying the project reflects the country’s continued progress toward economic transformation and improved connectivity.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony, President Boakai said the newly completed road represents a defining moment in Liberia’s journey of renewal and transformation, emphasizing that investments in infrastructure remain central to his administration’s development agenda.
The President noted that the road will significantly improve transportation, facilitate trade, and strengthen access to essential services for communities along the corridor.
He said the project demonstrates what can be achieved through genuine partnership, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to national development.
President Boakai expressed gratitude, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, to the Arab Coordinating Group and its partners, including BADEA, the OPEC Fund, the Saudi Fund for Development, and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, for their continued support to Liberia’s infrastructure sector.
According to the President, the partners’ investments extend beyond road construction by creating opportunities for farmers, traders, students, businesses, and families across the country.
He said improved road connectivity will help link communities, expand economic opportunities, promote regional integration, and enhance the quality of life for thousands of Liberians.
President Boakai stressed that infrastructure development remains a cornerstone of his administration’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, adding that the government is committed to expanding the country’s road network to accelerate national growth.
He further pledged that his administration would continue working closely with development partners to ensure that infrastructure projects are implemented with excellence, transparency, accountability, and within agreed timelines.
“We are laying the foundation for a more connected, prosperous, and united Liberia,” President Boakai declared.
The President concluded by thanking Liberia’s international partners for their enduring friendship and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation aimed at delivering sustainable development and improving the lives of Liberians.
