In a statement shared on social media, Pelham expressed gratitude to the residents of District #10 for their continued support, trust, and encouragement throughout her political journey.
She disclosed that after “careful reflection and consideration” of her national and international responsibilities, she has decided to fully dedicate herself to diplomacy, which she described as her chosen career path.
“At this stage, I do not intend to depart from this professional journey as a diplomat serving Liberia and representing our nation on regional and global platforms,” she stated.
Pelham stressed that public service extends beyond elected office, noting that meaningful impact can also be achieved through advocacy, service, and community support.
She assured residents that despite stepping away from the race, her commitment to District #10 remains strong.
“I will continue to support the residents and communities of District #10 in every little way I can whenever the opportunity arises,” she added.
The former candidate also called on citizens of the district to uphold peace, unity, respect, and political tolerance during the by-election process.
She urged voters to elect a “capable, visionary, and people-centered leader” who will prioritize the development and welfare of the district.
Pelham’s withdrawal comes as political activities intensify ahead of the highly anticipated District #10 by-election in Montserrado County.
